Why does adding a background make a screenshot look so much better?
Raw screenshots have hard square edges and no breathing room, so they read as abrupt when posted on their own — and a light-UI screenshot on a light-background social feed can blend into everything around it until the boundary is barely visible. A band of colored padding effectively frames the content, and the rounded corners plus shadow make it sit on the background like a card, which separates it from its surroundings instantly.
Does the export get compressed or watermarked?
Neither. You get a PNG rendered at your screenshot's native resolution with no lossy compression, and nothing is ever stamped on it — no watermark, no branding. If you pick the Transparent background, the exported PNG keeps a real alpha channel so you can drop it straight into another design.
Will a fixed canvas ratio crop my screenshot?
No. When you pick a ratio like 1:1 or 16:9, the canvas only grows outward and the screenshot is centered inside it — none of your screenshot is ever cut off. So a tall narrow screenshot set to 1:1 ends up with generous padding above and below rather than losing its top and bottom.
