ImgWell is a free, browser-based batch image tool — no install, no sign-up. It handles compression, watermarking, resizing, cropping, EXIF removal, and format conversion between JPEG/PNG/WebP/AVIF/HEIC. There's also a PDF section (images to PDF, PDF to images, PDF text extraction) and a set of single-image tools — ID photo maker, screenshot annotation, QR code and signature generation, object eraser. One site covers most everyday image tasks.

Why does it say "no upload" — is that actually safe?

Every operation runs in your own browser using its built-in Canvas/WebAssembly capabilities — files are never sent to any server, so there's nothing to leak and nothing left sitting on someone else's disk. That matters most for anything sensitive — ID scans, contracts, employee photos — since the result downloads straight to your device and no one else ever sees what you processed, because there was never an upload step to begin with.

Is it really free — any limits or watermarks added?

Completely free, no usage cap, no account required, and nothing gets watermarked or branded onto your output. Since every operation runs on your own device instead of a server, there's no compute cost to recoup, so there's no "free tier that runs out."

With this many tools, which one should I start with?

Pick by scenario: files too big to upload or email — use Compress. Need a different format (WebP to JPG, HEIC to JPG, etc.) — use the matching converter. Need different dimensions or want to cut out part of the photo — use Resize or Crop. Worried about location data hiding in a photo's metadata — use Remove EXIF. Combining images into one PDF, or splitting a PDF back into images — check the PDF Tools section.
