Can I still select and search text after compressing?
Yes. Compression only re-encodes embedded JPEG images — it never touches the text layer or vector content. That's different from tools that rasterize every page into an image and rebuild the PDF from those — that shrinks the file too, but text stops being selectable or searchable. We don't do that.
How much can it actually shrink the file?
Depends on what's inside. Scanned or photo-heavy PDFs made mostly of JPEG images compress noticeably; PDFs that are mostly text/tables, or whose images are already in another format like PNG, have much less room to shrink — in that case the tool tells you honestly rather than pretending it did more than it did.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
No. An encrypted PDF can't be read locally in the browser, so importing one will fail with an error — remove the password protection with another tool first, then compress.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser — file content is never sent to any server, and nothing is kept once you close the page.
