Which aspect ratio should I use for social media or product photos?
1:1 square still covers most social feed grids and marketplace thumbnails. 4:3 and 3:2 match typical camera sensor output, good for general photo galleries. 16:9 fits video thumbnails and wide banners. 9:16 is the vertical ratio for Stories/Reels/Shorts-style formats. If none of the presets match what a platform actually asks for, the custom ratio field takes any width:height pair.
Does batch cropping cut from the center or a corner?
From the center. The crop is calculated from the center of the original photo outward to fit the target ratio, not from a corner. That matters for photos where the subject isn't centered: cropping a wide landscape photo down to a tight square can cut off a subject sitting near the edge. Leaving a bit of margin around the subject when shooting gives batch cropping more room to work with.
Can I crop each photo in a batch to a different ratio?
No — this tool applies one ratio to every image in the batch. It's built for cases where a whole set of photos needs to come out the same shape (a product grid, a set of listing photos, a batch of thumbnails), not for cropping each photo to a different custom framing. If individual photos need individually different crops, that's a one-at-a-time editing job outside what batch tools are for.
